Two Truths and a Lie

Jane at Gaston Studio recently blogged about this always amusing game that I learned at camp when I was a kid. Called two truths and a lie, the point of the game is for you to figure out which of the three statements below is a falsehood and which two are true. I immediately knew this would be a fun way to tell some amusing stories.

I tried to make these statements vague enough so that even people who knew me well might not be able to guess the lie. The only person who might be able to decipher my code is my mother. So, sorry Mum, but you’re disqualified. After all, if my mother tells which way she’s voting it might give the whole thing away!

So which one do you think is the lie?
  1. I was once a runway model in Toronto.
  2. My husband and I met in a computer lab.
  3. I have worked in some capacity for all three of Toronto’s major newspapers; the Toronto Sun, Toronto Star, and the Globe and Mail.
The only hint I will give is this: each statement is either true or false by only the thinnest of margins. Now, go vote and I will return on Monday to spill all my secrets!

Oh, I played this game in elementary school.

I have to guess: I was once a runway model in Toronto.

Ok, I do not know you at all, except for your blog, but I am going to guess that #2 is false.

I guess I'll have to come back to see the answer! ;)

I'll be different and guess #3. Actually that was my original guess anyway when I first read this without seeing the other comments. I love this game and play it all the time with my campers and youth group kids.

All right, they all seem to be pretty plausible to me.;))
My first impulse was to say that number 3 is false, but of course it could be 2 and 1 as well.;)

Ok, I will go with my gut and suggest number 3 then.;)))
Have a nice weekend.;)

Oooh - very hard! I'll go with number 3 because it is so much longer in length than all the others..

Hmm... illogical?

Hmm, #2. But seems like that could totally be true since your husband is an academic type.

OK, #2.

OK, I am not allowed to answer! Do I remember. Well, maybe/probably.
Anyone want a hint? :)

Hi, I just found your blog and love it! 9It is so nice to have a fellow north american in the middle east blogosphere!) I am catching up reading your postes but I will guess 2?

Oh Lord....I don't know! I'll go with #2. I am sure you and your husband met in a lab, but maybe not a computer lab.

All 3 of these seem possible!

I'm thinking it's number two. Dang if I know why... just a hunch!

#2 because it's in the middle and middle children (I am one) are slightly crazy - as is this logic.

FYI - I have a son with a Maple Leaf bedroom. He actively roots against the Wings. It's a bitter, bitter pill for his father.

Hmmm, I say either #2 or #3... usually the 'lie' is the longest one, but you may have thrown us off with the personal note of #2 (of course, I don't know you so I'm really in the dark!). :)
My vote is #2. :)

I;m gonna go with #2, Just because I think so:) BTW No I'm not peeling, I'm breaking out all over my forehead and cheeks, I think that was supposed to happen so that your impurities come out but I don't like that!

The majority is guessing Nr. 2, so I´m going to be "against the grain" and guess Nr. 1 is a lie.
Just because...

I want number 3 to be true!

Hmmmm. Perhaps 1?

aw! Hugh Laurie! Love 'em!!! Ok as for your game, I'd say number 2! :)

I guess #2 b/c it's the least outrageous. ;) Hmmm, yep. Gonna stick with that one. Let's see, I may have to copy this! You're the second friend to do something like this. Alright, let's see the answer!

Since this is my first time here, I have no idea so, I am going to guess number 1.

I love that game. I tried playing it with my students in Korea. Some of them got it while others didn't really. It's always a great way to get to know new people.

Okay, the lie is number 2, you and your husband met in a computer lab.

Did I get it right?

This game is GENIUS! I'm going to say that you met your husband somewhere other than a computer lab.
