Capturing Life

I love when I walk around the city and see something that screams out to me, “Take my photo.” So today, I thought I would share a few random photos I’ve taken over the past few months here in Cairo. And as a bonus, I include one photo from South Africa I meant to post earlier but never got around to it.

Sometimes, marriage means being dragged to the Khan Khalili carrying your wife’s purchases and being seen in public in a bright pink shirt. Thankfully, the vows said nothing about being happy about it.

For the low, low price of $400 million, you too can buy a comfy place to take a nap between classes.

Inspired by Ali in Egypt, this is today’s entry in “Caution Tape ‘Round the World!”

I knew that’s how they built the pyramids!

I’m dreaming of a sandy Christmas. Just like the ones I used to know. With the mummies walking and hieroglyphs talking, and smoking shisha ‘round the fire!

That’s nice but I need a freaking spoon!

Those are some nice looking Christmas trees! Do people generally get trees at Christmas there?

Here no, but they are available and they're pretty scrawny. But we get one anyway and love it up.

Hilarious! Which one is the photo from South Africa?

The forests are full of snowy Christmassy trees over here...

What's wrong with the pink shirt? But he does look grumpy!
We'll be decorating the hibiscus tree again this year but...lots of snowy stuff around to cover the real trees outside too.

You know, I'm starting to realize that the one paragraph/5 minutes dedicated in my high school to the study of everything other than U.S. culture didn't teach me much. They really have Christmas trees in Egypt? Love the pyramid picture!

He stood out big time. I thought who is that grumpy man :P
But the pink suits him :)

The shots are great & hilarious.
I love the pyramid one, grin :D
And the Shisha under the Christmas tree, muah :)

What's the deal with the spoon? Do they slurp the whole bowl?

We don't get real trees here... too messy, and I'm afraid a cut one would dry out in a week! But I LOVE the poinsettas... they have appeared, YAY!, and the flower shops are looking very festive.

My dh is resigned to his camel-like fate when we go to Khan. He just makes me pack lots of strong bags and a backpack!

How long will you be in Cairo? I might just have to come over and visit! I have always wanted to see Egypt and the Pyramids.
