I Prefer Mine Baked

Last week, I enjoyed a fantastic lunch with two of my fellow Cairo bloggers: the lovely Lynda of LuLu’s Bay and long time Cairo resident Trailing Grouse. Over the course of lunch, we discussed several topics including the never-ending amusement to be found in local menus.

That day for lunch we enjoyed a very tasty bowl of hummus. Or, as the restaurant we visited had it listed on their menu:

My favourite menu find of last week has to be courtesy of Otlob. I was perusing menus for the various restaurants that delivered in my area and came across Cook’s Door who had a lovely array of seafood and other aphrodisiacs to select from. (Click on the photo to enlarge.)

I look forward to many future lunches with these ladies. Good food, great laughs, wonderful blog fodder, and fabulous company. What more could a girl ask for?

I've seen homos on a menu before - Tabbouleh's maybe, downtown?

I love the creative use of English! Why not? English is truly a messed up language .. it is a wonder that anyone ever figures it out.

lol! my husband and i have found some pretty amusing menu items. sometimes we order ethnic foods just to see what you end up getting. ex: "ceasar" salad with mustard for dressing, or "fajitas" with bread instead of tortillas and brocolli, which the cook swore was guacamole!

Hilarious! I love when blog fodder jumps in my lap instead of making me "embelish" it :-) Not that I would EVAH do that. Nope, not me...

Its so fun to see how they will translate things into English. And fun to get together with blogger friends. We do that regularly here in Paraguay as well.

I know you said you wanted to be in the drawing but feared it wouldn't get to you in one piece. I have chosen things that should make it through the post and can't break. Let me know ASAP as I'm drawing names today if you decide you are willing to give it a try.

I think that is what keeps me away from traveling. The food. I'm terrified of the food. I adore hummus, but woman cannot survive on hummus alone.
