I have been accused by more than a handful of you of having nothing better to do than blog. Specifically, I’ve been told to find something "better" to do than blog. After a great deal of research, I determined that you all came to this conclusion because I happen to post with some degree of frequency.
Part of the reason I post so frequently is that I have issues with what is colloquially known as “verbal diarrhea” and a need to “over share” everything. And by everything - for those of you who may be new here – I mean everything I’m willing to let my mother read. But more than that, I quite simply enjoy writing. I may not be the next winner of the Booker or Pulitzer prizes but writing is how I reach out to the world.
This desire to share my life with the world at large through my blog can occasionally get in the way of reality. I actually told Hubby last month that I wanted to do something semi-dangerous just so I could blog about it. Some people (like Hubby) would consider that crazy. Other people (like me) look at potentially life and death situations as fodder for a good post. I don’t think that makes me crazy – it simply makes me a blogger.
In any case, all of this preamble is my way of saying that you will be seeing even more of me this month than you have in the past. In three years of blogging, I have never once managed to post every day of an entire month. (Shocking but true!) My goal during November is to break that record by joining NaBloPoMo. National Blog Posting Month encourages crazy bloggers like myself to blog every single day for one month.
You non-bloggers are no doubt laughing at how seemingly easy this seems. The bloggers out there are shaking your heads at the drastic concept and hopefully wishing me luck. No matter which camp you find yourself in, I hope you’ll check back daily and encourage me through my usual semi-sane blathering about expat life in Cairo and the obviously lame attempts to fill daily space.
Wish me luck!

You have to blog. Blog a lot. I'm glad you do. I will be dropping by every day to wave my pennants, do the wave, and encourage you in your endeavor :-)
I will be looking forward to the daily blogs--especially as they may include lots of travelogoblog-type posts!
:)

I don't know if it's sad or exciting that I related to every word you wrote in this post!
Hey, just tell the people who tell you to do something other than blog, that they should do something other than READ blogs! haha
Hey, you've inspired me! Last year I did NaNoWriMo (yes, 50,000 words!), and there's no way I'm doing that again. But NaNoWriMo I think I can do.
I have joined as well (btw, reading you by way of Lulu's Bay) and now I have an urge to multi-post and yet feel I should sve something for the slower days...
Frankly, the election angst is driving me to want to write more and more neurotic posts...
Wow! I'm very impressed with such determination in the face of such a daunting task! I find it hard to find enough interesting things to blog about. But, it's a comfort to know I'll have an amusing blog to read each evening. :-)
I did this last year, and found it very challenging particularly at the end of the month
I am still trying to decide if I am going to do it this year or not, but I might just do it unofficially for now.
Hehe, that sounds very familiar :D
But people gave up on wondering what and why I'm doing things online ;)
I'm obsessed with blogging as well...I like to read fun posts. There's nothing wrong with over blogging at all!
As long as your content is good (and yours is beyond good, it's great), then post as much as you want! I love reading what you have to say, especially since it's about a part of the world I may never get to.
I got a big chuckle over those menus.
Man! Best of luck to you with this! I guess you could make every sentence a different post toward the end of the month. Ha! :)
Good for you. I would love to blog daily. But so many days I am grasping at straws for something to write about. I'll be here. because I apparently have nothing better to do than to read blogs...
You know, it started out of national novel writing month. I could NEVER do that. 50,000 words a DAY! That's like pages and pages, and I'm lucky to string a few words together for my blog. I've been interested my friend just got back from Cairo, said it was hard on women. Especially single women. She's a little younger than me, but still single. Perhaps it's a cultural difference? There's a topic! Go at it! :)
