Carrying the Banner

My father took this photo when we were in Luxor. You mean your local newsie doesn’t carry his papes this way? Weird.

I was always awed at the people's ability to carry on their heads, as well as the sheer variety of stuff carried that way!

Every morning, we goes where we wishes, we's as free as fishes... in the Nile? (Hrmmm.)

thanks for getting Newsies stuck in my head. May have to sing Seize the Day all morning and drive hubby nuts.

Very true, egyptians are experts at balancing things over their heads!

You should see the women who carry big water containers on their heads, AND a child on their arm!

Just think... if we all adopted this method we could knit and deliver papers at the same time! :)

I've always found that balancing skill fascinating!

I agree with Sandy...what great posture! Our paper person usually throws the paper towards the door and usually misses the neighbourhood(but maybe I shouldn't mention that we get one delivered!).

I love that photo! My mom was in Africa a few years ago, building a school and she has so many photos of people carrying things (easily) on their heads, it's wonderful.

I would think all those papers would be very heavy! Well, at least his hands are free.
