Forgive Me

Despite rumors of my death by Fugu, I promise that I am still alive and kicking. I just haven't been blogging. I am dreadfully sorry that I haven't posted in more weeks than I care to count. By the time my deathly case of writer's block finally abated, my parent's arrived for a visit and took up what little time I had to myself.

Please forgive me for not posting and check back in about a week for stories from Japan, the poltergeist in my apartment, and the Nile cruise on which I am about to embark. Not only will I post my own stories next week, but I am also finally going to tackle catching up on all of yours!

In the mean time, here are just a couple of photos to whet your palette.

I snapped this photo of a geisha in the Gion district of Kyoto. Hubby was trying to point out a beautiful temple directly behind me but I was too entranced with this Japanese girl to notice.

Japan is the land of the vending machine. Our hands down favourite was this beer vending machine. Need a large can of Sapporo to get you through the day but don't have the time to find a bar? Not a problem: just put a few Yen in this machine and a chilled beer is yours for the taking.

I think I'll install a beer vending machine for my hubby!

I love the beer machines! They're getting a little scarce around Okinawa, but if you know where to look you can find them! They also have this awesome tea in a yellow can...I forget what it's called but it's like crack. Soooo gooood...twitch....

You're very lucky to have spotted a geisha! I have many friends who went to Gion and never saw geisha, though they looked. Her kimono looks fabulous. Her dressing/makeup routine probably makes the rest of us look like speed demons in the dressing room!

Welcome back, it seems you have been busy with "real life".;)

Yes, welcome back. Many people have noticed. Those "29 gems of wisdom" prove that! Geez, I'm thrilled if I've got 5 comments not including my responses within them!! Have fun! Oh, and if you have the chance to see the Dendara Temple, do it! The most colorful & well preserved temple in Egypt. It's in Qena, north of Luxor. That is, if the cruise goes by there!

Gald to see you back, and I can't wait to see more!

There was a news about how geisha are tired of being harassed by tourists. Too many people want to take pictures with them.

Goodness me - you're back just to tell us that you are off on a Nile cruise! What? Oh - I mean, have a lovely time and please please do not leave it so long before posting again! Otherwise, I will start thinking that your brain has been addled by too much beauty, beer and blowfish.

Hi, I didn't get an answer from you yet. Would you still like to read my blog? Please give me your e-mail address. Thanks.

missed you, but glad all is well and you are only being deterred by an adventurous life. the vending machine reminds me of when i lived in louisiana and it was illegal to have an open alcoholic drink in your car but you could drive thru your favorite restaurant and get a drink to go with a piece of paper on the top of the straw - that was ok. i wonder if you see many inebriated people hanging about waiting for some spare change so they can have their next beer, funny and convenient.

Lovely shot of that Geisha and well, do you think you could get the phone number of that company with the vending machines for me?
