My List

Ever since the movie “The Bucket List” came out in 2007, people have been talking about their personal bucket or “to do” lists. In case you’re like me and didn’t see the movie, what they are talking about is the list of things they want to do before they die. Many might consider this type of checklist to be somewhat morbid or depressing. I think it’s good planning. Of course, I’m also the girl who picked out the music she wants played at her funeral, but that’s another story.

Growing up, my list would have included things like seeing the Taj Mahal, visiting the pyramids in Egypt, seeing pyramids on two different continents, or visiting all the continents. Life has made me wish I had made that list as a kid because, thanks to Hubby’s job and living overseas, I’ve done many of those things.

I have always been the kind of girl who sat down with a post-it as soon as she arrived at the office. I may be a year or so behind the trend, but I’m ready with my post-its. I’m ready to create new dreams to fulfill. So today, I’m going to share part of my bucket list. I say part because I’m sure there are things I’m forgetting, or things I haven’t dreamed about yet. What would be on your to do list?

Without further ado, this is “Part One of Typ0’s Bucket List.”

Visit Petra
Visit all the continents (I’m still missing South America and Antarctica)
Write a book
See Stonehenge
See a musical on Broadway
Lose enough weight to fit into a size 12
Go to Disney World
Go skydiving
Bungee jump
Swim with dolphins
Go to the dentist and get my root canals done
Attend an NFL game with Hubby
Take a cooking class with a famous chef
Get a tattoo
Visit every state in the US
Walk on the Great Wall of China
Attend the Oscars
Get my Masters degree
Fly first class
Have dinner at the White House
Visit more than 50 countries
See the Northern Lights
Ride in a hot air balloon
Live on every continent
Eat fugu (blowfish)
Bungee jump at Victoria Falls
Visit Israel
Take a trip on the Orient Express
Join the mile high club
Attend mass at the Vatican

Hey! I'm the first comment! I've never been the first comment!

Great list. I have one, too, since I was young, but mainly in my head. Wish I had written it down 'cuz I've done some cool things and love to check things off.

heh-heh--I'm not a member of the mile-high club, but I am a member of the 10 meters-below club. XD

Good ideas. . . .I want to take a cooking class with a famous chef, and a few others you have on this list. Like get back into my size 12's!

We just saw that movie a couple of weeks ago and it was cute. I don't think its morbid, its kind of fun.

Good list - except for the whole go to the dentist and have my root canals excavated... The pain and the agony! Surely not really something to wish for?!

I think I'm only missing Antarctica on my visit all continents list...

You're close enough to Isreal, it's about time!! :P

We can have dinner..."near" the White House whenever you want. And, it would add another state to your list.

When you want to go get your tattoo, I'll come with you.

There's a chef here that was on Top Chef that wouldn't mind giving us lessons, does that count?

How are the dentists in Egypt?
Masters is a lot easier than you might think.
Skydiving, my bf skydived for charity one year, look into it. :P
Write a book, you should have done nanowritmo...or whatever that one was called.

I like your list.

Some things on mine:

Live on a sailboat and cruise for at least a year while the kids are still young.
Run a half marathon (well).
Get strong enough to do a couple of pull-ups.
Teach childbirth education classes.
Do something noteworthy in the field of flexible photovoltaics.

You are nearly at 50 countries, aren't you?
And NO dentist yet? That should go to the top of the list and get out-of-the way. Who needs dentist on the list!
I have had some of your items on my list and hopefully will get some more done by next Spring!I've even said the Mass in St. Peter's!
This year I've done the 'South America' leg and 'Train across Canada. I wont be doing bungy jumping and skydiving.
Are you doing anything about(completing)the book?

We share many of the same "bucket list" items...I love traveling and have a list of places I want to see before I die.

I've checked off three of the things on your list, and they are the safest three. Maybe I need to add some excitement to my life ?

Get a masters or two. They're simply a matter of endurance (and the doctorate is, too.)

I love your list. it shows that you have a JOY for life and enjoy things to the MAX. Good for you. I need to write a list too. I think you should make all of us write a list so we can compare ideas and maybe add stuff to our list we hadn't thought of. I'm dying to find out what your hubby does for a living. My husband's a work comp lawyer and I really wish he had a job that enabled us to live in different countries. Keep sending your friends over to vote for your story. Only 3 days left!

Have you heard of 101 in 1001? It's a shorter version of the bucket list concept.

Wow! That is a very diverse list of things to do. But at the rate your going, I would say it is highly likely that you have the opportunities to complete each one. Thanks for stopping by on the BATW layover today! I appreciate all the help!

I really really like your list. And no I am not just filling up space either. How many people can say that they are out to acomplish that?

Dreaming of your to do list vs the real to do list sounds not only better but a tangible achievement.

You have a zest for life and we all need some more zest . . . the kind that you can't really get from the citrus fruits either.

Thanks for the layover . . . I got a little zestier.

You need to come and visit me! There is a place here where they will take you up in a plane for the soul purpose joining the mile high club :-)

And I so love that you want to go to the vatican after you join the mile high club :-)

We swam with Dolphins during our last cruise. IT was amazing!

Haha great list! You know, some you could knock off in one swift blow - like flying to South America first class while joining the mile high club... just a suggestion :)

What I love about your list is that it really is a "to do" list. You don't just want to visit the Vatican, you want to attend mass. You don't just want to go to the White House, you want to break bread. This is the next level of things to do before you die lists.
